  2. In 2009, I had the worst year of my life... I lost my dream job, my grandmother passed away, my boyfriend of 2 years dumped me and my dog passed away suddenly. I felt stripped of everything and I was down. But one day, I realized I could either let the losses devour me or I could "start over" and I made positives of every negative. Gave every loss a meaning. You can rise when everything falls apart.

  3. To me, "starting over" means moving forward with a new outlook. It means making an effort to better yourself/the situation from that point on. I have never heard anyone ask for a "do over" when they are happy with the outcome of what they just did. Cheers to new beginnings!

Thanks for the chance, Jessica... and the inspiration, Miss Manda.

  4. I started over a few years ago. I had been widowed with a young son when I was in my 20's. When he married, I realized that I the life I had constructed was not the one I would choose for myself. So, I sold the house, gave most of the furniture to the kids, kept only the things I truly loved, and remarried. We've been married for almost 5 years and I am very happy. Except for a very few things left from my old life, this one is fresh and new and very much down-sized--exactly what I want. I have 2 beautiful grand-daughters. My son will graduate medical school next year. My husband and I are wonderfully comfortable together. I did start over.

  5. During my life I have had many "starting overs" I'm a recovering addict, survived a horribly abusive marriage, was a very young single parent, a suicide survivor (someone very close to me committed suicide and I found them), had a 2nd broken marriage etc etc What each and every one of those times in my life have in common is that I always started over and believe that its never too late too and you never run out of chances.

  6. Starting over...putting the past in a little wooden box and turning the key in the keyhole to lock it away. ...embracing the future by living in the present, on a course that is disconnected from what has come before, a path that is new. ...breathing fresh air and fresh life, allowing yourself to see the world in a different way and taking a risk on the unknown with the hopes of stumbling upon 'something better.' Starting over...a blank page.

  8. In 1996 I had some spiritual revelations and chose to move to another state, away from my family and away from things that kept me down. With very little money and a lot of faith, I moved and started my life completely over. I got a new profession, a new church, new friends that gave me tons of support and essentially began my life! Starting over means change and taking a leap of faith that things will be alright! melanieinaz2003 at yahoo

  9. It's about breaking away from your past and releasing yourself from all the negative baggage and begin anew.

  10. Starting over is very scary to me.

  11. Starting over had to begin with allowing myself to make mistakes in life, forgiving myself for my imperfection, and moving forward without the weight of a regretted past.

  12. I've never had to completely start over and as another poster said, it is quite frightening to me as well. But that is not to say that I don't love changing things in my life for the better, which I have done many, many times. I wouldn't mind putting a fresh new coat of paint on this life of mine right now though!

  13. Starting over meant leaving behind everyone I knew and picking up the pieces in another state. Starting over meant a fresh start, another opportunity at life.

  14. Starting over is like opening up a new page in your life, letting all the past inks dry, painting it over with white paint, and brushing a new set of expressions in that clean paper. It's about forgiving all your past mistakes, letting all the truth out of your heart and setting free all those denials, unsureness, and anxiousness of your heart. It's having new set of hopes, and not punishing yourself by setting unrealistic expectations of yourself.

  15. Starting over means new opportunities and reflection. I started over 3 years ago when my husband and I separated, and eventually got divorced. I have 2 small children, and have them most of the time. It made me reflect on who I was, who I am, and who I want to be, and gave me the opportunity to grow as a person and learn how to be happy. It was awful and wonderful all at the same time.

  16. Starting over means beginning everything again and deciding what is important and how to go forward. What are my talents and abilities and how do I shape my life? There is both loss and new possibility inherent in starting over and that's what makes it so powerful.

  17. Starting over is letting go of all past aggressions/frustrations and wiping the slate clean. Going in a new direction, and never looking back. But not forgetting who you are.

  18. Your song "Starting Over" is a great way to be starting out. I wish you great success as you follow your passion.

  19. Starting over is always one of the greatest challenges, but the best opportunity for greater success.

  20. Starting over is something I know all to well. I married at 21, my husband and I had 3 wonderful children, I was a stay at home mom * life was good. One day my husband did something that was terrible & it ended our marriage of 8 years (to hard to mention or share). Long story short, I am now a single mom trying to get a college degree & give my children & I a fresh start at life.

  21. Starting over is something people do over and over throughout your life. You may leave one job and start over with a new one. You leave home and start over on your own. The best part is that, usually, starting over allows you to take control of your own life and destiny and go where YOU really want to go!

  24. 2010 was a rough year for me I never thought it would be that way because it started out pretty good. By the end of May I had lost almost everything. I lost my job and went from a good income to almost nothing. My 12 year relationship ended. I lost my house and most of my things because my ex kep most of it. I lost most of my friends because they were our friends. Now things are looking better, i have a great new job and I am also starting a new relationship. It was hard for me to let go of the past, the people and the "things" but I have learned what is really important. As friends go the one that really care about me are still there and those that aren't didn't really care. Now I am open to new opportunities, new love and I feel renewed. "Things happen for me not to me" That is the lesson of 2011

  27. Starting over means you leave what's behind and have a fresh chance to begin again. My family had to start over several years ago when my husband lost his job and we had to relocate to a town where we knew no one. Now some of our closest friends are from that town and we never would have met them if we hadn't been forced to start over. :)

  28. "Starting over" means that you screwed up and have to do it all over again. Its completely different from "starting again" or any other variation on the re-start theme.

  30. Starting over, for me, means realizing you don't need any of the things you thought you did... letting go of attachments no matter how painful, then waking up and realizing you exist and can thrive independent of anything outside of yourself. STarting over means it's never to late to make a change.... a BIG change.... and also that small changes lead, over time, to the bigger more exciting changes.... and in the end changing the way i think will always show up in my life.... right now starting over for me means doing the things i've wanted to do for years yet been to scared... also, starting over reminds me nothing in life is ever permanent

  32. I'm just now starting over. I'm a survivor of csa and recently testified against my abuser and he was found not guilty. Now I'm trying to move past that and start over. I just got accepted to grad school, so it feels like a new beginning for me.

  33. Not allowing bad things to force my decisions is my starting over. I've made a conscious decision to make choices based on what is good for me, what will work best for me and what I deserve instead of what everyone else wants for me. I'm starting over for ME.

  35. Starting over for me means to radically change direction in life. For me this took place 3 years ago. See I was studying to become a Catholic Priest and after 7 years in the seminary I decided the Priesthood was not right for me. When I left I had only friends and family for support. I created a list of objectives for my new life and began to fulfill them. This month I would have been ordained and it is constantly on my mind. However, I can say now that I am happier now then before. :-)

  38. Not sure if I am supposed to post on youtube or here.. I will post both places.

I was with someone for 8 years. We have a child together. 4 years ago, he decided to stray, and I had to start all over again. I am glad to have gained myself back. I am back to who I am before I met him, and I learned a huge lesson in life. Dont think it will never happen to you, or it will.

  44. Perfect timing. I was well known and respected in the "real world" with my career, which I dropped to be a stay-at-home mom. Like all the books talk about, I made child-rearing be my new career, and was perfectly happy for the next 20 years. But now my youngest is going off to college in the Fall, so that "career" is over. So now I have to start over - remember what it was like to be a person in my own right and not be so-and-so's-mom. I have to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life when going back to my previous career is no longer an option.

  46. Starting over is being aloud a second chance, either alowing youself to have one or giving someone else the opportunity to have one. Starting over can be bone breaking hard, and earth shattering wonderful. It is worth it though, at times, for the right situation. Good luck to everyone starting over!

  49. Starting over has mostly centered around relationships for me. I believe relationships..whether romantic or not..can be huge stepping stones for us and platforms from which to jump from. They form our foundation and motivate us to make changes. Most of my relationships lead me to start over in a sense. My marriage of 8 years was abusive and emotionally rocky. I finally pushed myself to leave and started over. Another unhappy relationship after that motivated me to go back to school and change jobs. The biggest change within starting over came from within myself. What is life without change? We can not grow as spiritual beings without pushing ourselves, without releasing the past and forgiving, and we certainly can not do it without the courage in our own hearts to start over.

  50. My husband & I found a home we loved & decided to rent it with his mother because we both had crappy, expensive little apts. A month after living there, she unexpectedly passed away and we were forced to move out. At the same time we found out we were successful at becoming pregnant. Through all this we stayed positive. It's taken time, but we found a new home and make sure to live each day to the fullest. We focus on our little boy and know that his grandma would have adored him.

  52. Starting over was hard for me because after 25 years of marriage my husband left me and my teenage daughter. Since I married young, I had to focus on really being alone and do the best with my daughter who had so much hatered and added problems since the breakup. But after several years of coping I came to the end of the tunnel. It was like I was reborn, my daughter manage to finally graduate high school and we have moved on. So we are looking at a bright future.
